Abstract

The mergers and acquisitions activities in the banking industry of Nepal have significantly impacted employee productivity and satisfaction due to government-led reduction in the size of the banking industry. Employee performance is the main dependent variable in this study, and the study intends to assess the impact of work culture, training and performance evaluation, compensation and allowances, and transfer/promotion on the dependent variable. The study uses the descriptive-analytical research design and employs a sample of 224 employees from 31 branches of the bank. Purposive and convenience sampling methods are used in the study. Primary data are obtained through a 31-item Likert scale questionnaire conducted in November 2025. Analytical findings show a positive correlation between the four independent variables and employee performance. Three of the independent variables, namely training and performance evaluation, pay and allowances, and transfer/promotion, show statistical significance at 0.05 level. It is interesting to note that the work culture variable does not show statistical significance but shows a positive coefficient in the regression model. The whole model explains 69.9% of the variance in employee performance. Furthermore, in order to improve organizational resilience, salary and job promotion policies should be implemented equally
