Abstract

Education is a fundamental driver of women’s empowerment and a critical enabler of sustainable development. In India, the Central Government and the state governments have introduced several educational schemes and initiatives to improve girls’ enrolment, retention, literacy, skill development, and access to quality education. This empirical study examines the impact of selected schemes in uplifting the status of women in terms of education. Primary data was collected from a sample of 400 women respondents across selected rural regions of Lucknow district through semi-structured questionnaires and personal interviews. The findings indicate that there is no significant impact of selected schemes in uplifting the status of women in terms of education in U.P.
