Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation are reshaping the landscape of Human Resource Management (HRM), driving efficiency, accuracy, and strategic decision-making. This paper delves into the transformative impact of AI and automation across key HRM functions, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, training and development, and administrative operations. AI-powered tools, such as machine learning algorithms and natural language processing, enhance recruitment by automating resume screening, conducting predictive analytics for candidate-job matching, and utilizing chatbots for initial communication with applicants. Automation streamlines repetitive tasks such as payroll management, employee onboarding, and compliance reporting, enabling HR professionals to focus on strategic initiatives. Advanced analytics provide insights into workforce trends, helping organizations predict turnover, optimize resource allocation, and design personalized career development plans.

Moreover, AI-driven systems foster employee engagement through adaptive learning platforms, sentiment analysis of feedback, and tailored recognition programs. They also enable more objective performance evaluations by analysing real-time data and reducing biases inherent in traditional methods.

Despite the numerous benefits, integrating AI and automation in HRM raises critical challenges. Ethical considerations, such as ensuring algorithmic fairness and preventing discrimination, are paramount. Data privacy and security remain significant concerns, given the sensitive nature of HR data. Additionally, the shift toward automation necessitates reskilling HR professionals and employees to adapt to evolving technologies.

This paper underscores the dual role of AI and automation in HRM—as catalysts for innovation and as tools that require thoughtful implementation to balance efficiency with ethical responsibility. By harnessing these technologies strategically, organizations can create more agile, inclusive, and employee-centric workplaces, positioning themselves for long-term success in the era of digital transformation..
